John, a Wattsburg, PA, resident and first-time ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer, came into ENORMIS with his 2010 RAM 2500. The factory navigation radio had stopped working and was just a black screen. It would not turn on or function. Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, went over some options with John.
ENORMIS was able to obtain factory radio replacements and program them to the vehicle with our Chrysler dealer-level computer. Alternatively, ENORMIS can also install an upgraded radio with more features than a radio originally had. We made John aware of the known issues and common failures of the factory RAM “RER” radios. John decided that the Kenwood DNX574s Navigation, CD, DVD abd Apple CarPlay/Android Auto radio was his best choice, but he had a couple of stipulations: “I want it to tell me where I’m going on trips, and I have to have Sirius radio.” No problem!
Art Dougan did a fantastic job on the installation. Art made the radio look like it always belonged there and made sure to retain the factory steering wheel controls. He installed a USB port for the radio in the center console for easy phone charging, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay use. Art also used a special Maestro harness that allows for a totally integrated radio replacement. He was able to retain the vehicle’s key features, such as backup camera, reverse sensors, satellite radio antenna and the gauge cluster information center — but this harness does more! It also adds tire pressure alerts, check engine alerts and open door warnings.
John was happy with his Garmin Navigation and Satellite Radio and will leave it up to his son to figure out all the fancy stuff.
