An Ohio car dealer needed to add Cruise Control to a 2013 Chevy Cruze. So, Bud from the dealership called the store and spoke with Doug Reichert, our OEM Integration Specialist. Bud had a customer interested in a 2013 Chevy Cruze for their first time teen driver. However, The Chevy Cruze lacked one feature the customer wanted. That feature is cruise control.
Chevy Cruze gets Factory Cruise control
Since the vehicle was going to be a college car, the end customer wanted cruise control for highway trips. So, Doug and Bud discussed adding aftermarket and factory cruise control. The factory cruise control was a little more expensive. But the factory cruise used all factory Chevy parts. Furthermore, if service was ever needed a GM dealer would be able to handle it! Since the customer was going to be using the vehicle to get back and forth from school, they decided that factory cruise control was the way to go.
MECP Certified Technician Installs and Programs the Chevy Parts
Doug and Bud scheduled an installation date and Doug ordered all the necessary cruise parts. MECP certified technician Art Dougan was tasked with the installation of the factory cruise control. That began with, removing the steering wheel and installing the necessary control modules. Meanwhile, the operations manager Mike Macaluso programmed the factory cruise control options on in the Chevy Cruze’s software. After the control modules and programming was completed, Art installed the new parts. Finally, after the job was completed, Art and Doug test drove the vehicle verifying functions. Those cruise functions included set, resume, coast, and cancel options. In the end, All worked as designed. Bud, from the Chevy Dealer, picked the vehicle up later in the day to deliver to his customer that night.
