North East, PA, resident Dan F. recently purchased a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta for his son, who is headed off to college. The school will still be close enough that his son will be driving home quite often. When Dan purchased the Jetta, he assumed it was equipped with cruise control — but there was no cruise control?
Cruise control is one of those items that you would think all vehicles have, but surprisingly many don’t, including this Jetta, so Dan called and spoke with our product specialist, Tony Horton. Tony explained that a Volkswagen-specific cruise control could be added to the 2013 Jetta. The installation would take approximately half a day.
Dan was pleased to hear that information and decided to make an appointment.
MECP-Certified technician Art Dougan handled the installation. He had the control module, wiring harness and control arm installed within about 4 hours — but he wasn’t done. To confirm the operation of the cruise control, Art then took the vehicle for a test drive and ran it through its functionality. The cruise control switch even had its own indicator LED light. This light will visually alert the driver when the cruise control is powered on and functional.
Both Dan and his son came to pick up the Jetta. Tony went over the cruise operation with both of them. Dan’s son can now enjoy the drive to and from college a little safer and more conveniently.
Just contact the Electrical Experts at ENORMIS if you need cruise control or anything else.
Note: We installed a vehicle-specific VW Jetta cruise control kit that fits the 2011–2015 Volkswagen Jetta. For cruise control to work, a Jetta has to be manufactured with a radio. If the vehicle was manufactured without a factory radio, there is no option for cruise control.
