Alyssa called the dealer about adding a remote start to her 2017 Volkswagen Beetle. She had moved to Erie from Miami, Florida, and has heard all the stories about our Lake Erie winters. The dealer told her that it was not available from Volkswagen and that they couldn’t do it. All of Alyssa’s co-workers told her to “call the electrical experts at ENORMIS.” Alyssa was apprehensive. Alyssa was not interested in a cheap remote start. She wanted a reliable and trouble free remote start for her Volkswagen. She wanted a remote start installed by experts.
Alyssa called ENORMIS and spoke with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, who asked Alyssa a few questions about her Beetle. Doug responded with great news for Alyssa: Not only could ENORMIS install a remote start, but her vehicle qualified for vehicle-specific remote start and wiring. “Vehicle-Specific” means that this Beetle would not be getting a “universal” remote start system. This remote start will seamlessly integrate with VW Beetles electrical system.
A vehicle-specific remote start is made for the exact vehicle with wire harnessing that matches the factory VW wiring. Alyssa was very excited to hear this and re-assured that no wiring on her vehicle had to be altered to install the remote start. Alyssa then had us pair the vehicle-specific remote start with our long distance two-way remotes, which offer up to 6/10 mile of range. As a bonus, she can also lock/unlock doors from the same one-button remote. The two-way confirmation tells Alyssa that the vehicle has in fact started and the doors are locked. That’s great when you can’t see the vehicle.
Doug and Alyssa scheduled the installation appointment, and Alyssa dropped off the vehicle for the day. We tasked MECP-certified technician Ken Whiteman with installing and programming the remote start in the Beetle. Alyssa picked up her vehicle later that day, and Doug was happy to demonstrate the operation of the remote start. Alyssa is now prepared for our dreaded Lake Erie winters.
