Sarah is a West Erie resident and first time ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer. She was looking to upgrade her husband Ken’s 2018 Jeep Wrangler with a backup camera as a Christmas gift. Because, Sarah’s husband was missing some technology that he had on his previous vehicle. Such as, a backup camera and a remote start. So, She contacted ENORMIS through our online e-mail inquiry about the upgrades.
2018 Wrangler Backup Camera Connects to the Jeep Touch Screen
In the request, Sarah explained that the Wrangler already had a touch screen radio in it. But, the Jeep dealer said that they could not add a backup camera! Our Integration Specialist Doug Reichert quickly responded to Sarah’s e-mail with options for the 2018 Wrangler. Doug has heard this before and replied to Sarah. Doug told her, that’s true, the dealer can’t, but ENORMIS can.
Downtown Parking needs Long Range Remote Start
In addition to the backup camera, Sarah was interested in a long range remote start for the Wrangler. Because, Ken works in downtown Erie and has to park a couple of blocks away from where he works. So, Doug had the perfect solution for the remote start. That solution is our, Factory Start with Smartphone App Installed. This is cell phone based remote start with our vehicle specific remote start harnessing. The vehicle specific harness allows Ken to remote start the vehicle from his existing Jeep key fobs short range. And, he can use the Smartphone DroneMobile App for long range. Also, that means no extra remotes to carry! Sarah liked the idea of the vehicle specific remote start harness. Especially since it allows for a completely seamless integration with the vehicle’s existing wiring harnesses.
Wrangler gets High Quality MECP Installation
Sarah and Doug correspond through e-mail several times. They decided that scheduling the installation while Ken was on Christmas vacation was the best idea. So, Ken and Sarah dropped the vehicle off on a Friday afternoon for the installation. Ultimately, it will be completed on Saturday. MECP certified technician Ken Whiteman was tasked with the installation.
Correspondingly, Ken started with installing the Jeep Wrangler JK reverse camera assembly behind the spare tire. The spare tire had a 6 o’clock opening instead of a 12 o’clock opening. So, the camera lens was mounted downward. . Meanwhile, Ken routed the wiring harness for the backup camera from the rear of the Jeep to the radio. Also, our Operations Manager Mike Macaluso was busy programming the vehicle to accept the backup camera. (As a note, our dealer level programming capabilities make projects like this more cost effective and reliable. This is because, we do NOT have to use an aftermarket interface.)
After the camera install, Ken moved onto the remote start by installing the vehicle specific remote start harness. Finally, the remote start was ran through its paces. Now the vehicle was ready for Sarah and Ken to pick it up. Upon pick up, Doug walked Ken and Sarah through the Drone Mobile Smartphone registration and remote start usage. In the end, Doug had them on the road by 1pm to enjoy their Saturday afternoon.
