Fenton Mobility / Abilitrax is an industry leader in the modification and adaptation of wheelchair & handicap vans. Based out of Buffalo, NY, they build modified vans and ship them all over the country. Mary, of their Sales and Dealer Support department, was quite familiar with ENORMIS in Erie. This was because, she has worked with us on prior contracts. Also, Tony had assisted her in 2019, with installing remote starts in several Ram Promaster Vans.
2019 Ram Promaster Mirrors get Power Fold and Heat
Mary now had a contract to fill. This was for modification of a fleet of Promaster vehicles. As a requirement for a client, these 2019 Ram Promaster mirrors needed to have Power Folding and Heat added. Mary contacted Tony once again for help!
Tony asked Mary for some specific information on the Ram Promaster vans. He then partnered with our Operations Manager Mike Macaluso. Together they did extensive research and came up with a solution for Mary. The solution would involve many things. In detail, there was sourcing of the power mirror assemblies and finding the correct switch control panel. On top of that, a custom wiring harnesses needed to be figured out. After all of that, we had to do a proper installation. But rest assured, these vans would be done before Mary’s deadline for delivery!
Each Van Gets an MECP Certified Technician
Once we had the required parts, the Promaster Vans could be brought to ENORMIS for installation. There was an expected completion of 1 day for each vehicle. That way, Tony co-ordinated with Mary for the dropping off and picking up each van. That was easier on her and her staff, since only one employee needed to be involved for the transportation of each van.
Our skilled MECP technician Ken Whiteman was assigned to the installations. After installation and programming, the replacement OEM switches allowed for complete control of mirror motion. This included, both the top and bottom panes. In detail, the driver would be able to adjust both side mirrors to his or her height and seating position. This greatly assisted vehicle safety. Ken also wired the OEM mirror heated glass panes into the rear defroster circuit. So, whenever the rear defroster is turned on, the heated side mirrors would also defrost. That means, no additional switches need to be pressed! After installation, the OEM Promaster mirrors fit perfectly and looked great!
All the vans were completed before the deadline and Mary couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. We look forward to helping her in the future with other projects!
