Have you ever purchased a vehicle and expected it to come with an option and it didn’t? Well, that’s what happened to Sherman NY resident Eric. What happened was, Eric just purchased a brand new 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD for a work truck. Since it was a work truck, Eric expected the vehicle to come with the rooftop cab lighting. That lighting typically comes on many heavy duty 2500 trucks. Unfortunately, his truck did not. Not only that but, the Buffalo Chevy dealer, that sold Eric the truck, was no help. In fact, they weren’t even sure that the cab lights could even be added!
So, Eric called ENORMIS Mobile Specialties and spoke with our Integration Specialist Doug Reichert. During the call, they talked about the possibility of adding the 2020 Chevy Cab lights to the truck. Doug told Eric YES! The lights could be added. On top of that, we could even add the factory lights just like the truck came with it! Doug and Eric scheduled for the truck to be dropped off at the store for a couple of days while Eric was going to be on vacation with his family. Before Eric arrived for the appointment, Doug took measurements for the lighting on the roof. He got the measurements from another Chevy Truck 2500 that came with them from the factory. He did this because, he wanted to ensure proper placement on the roof.
2020 Chevy Cab Lights get an MECP Installation
With those measurements , Ken, an MECP Certified Technician, began the install by marking where the lights would go on the roof. After that, he began drilling the square holes into the roof to affix the lights from the underside of the roof. Once the proper light placement was on the roof, Ken created a custom wiring harness to power the 3 lights and ran the wiring hidden above the vehicle headliner. After the physical light and wiring installation, Ken programmed the truck to know the lights were there and connected to the factory headlight switch. We eliminated the need for an aftermarket switch to control the new lights. Because, Ken programmed the truck and added wiring to the factory headlight switch. Eric picked the truck up on his way home from vacation and was very pleased with the factory grade installation!
