Lynn of Erie was no stranger to ENORMIS, because she had our remote starts installed in two previous vehicles. Her 2011 Sonata had served her well. But, with the mileage getting high, Lynn decided it was time to upgrade. Having been very happy with that Sonata, she decided to shop for a new one. She came across this 2020 Hyundai Sonata and she was taken in by its sleek new redesigned appearance! It was also in the budget that she wanted to be in. There were only 2 things missing, a remote start and heated seats on her 2020 Sonata.
2020 Sonata Remote Start Model gets Picked Out
So, Lynn stopped by the store to show Tony her new 2020 Hyundai Sonata. Tony showed her the heated seat elements and explained how they work. Then, together they sat in the vehicle to discuss switch locations and found a location where they would be easy to operate. Lynn is also always in sight of the vehicle during her busy day. So, our Mini 1-way remote start with its 2/10 mile range would be enough for her needs. She will be able to control locking, unlocking, and remote starting. This could all be done from a small single-button remote! Tony scheduled Lynn for a full day, drop-off appointment. Because, this allowed for both installations to be done while she was at work.
NEW 2020 Sonata Model gets Special Attention from Management
The vehicle was turned over to MECP Certified Technician Ken Whiteman and Service Manager Mike Macaluso for the installation. Why was Mike’s involvement needed? This was because this was one of the very first 2020 Hyundai Sonata’s to get a remote start anywhere in North America!
We have been in this situation many times before. A vehicle is so new and so redesigned, that remote start firmware (required for a remote start to operate) has not yet been written. Such was the case with this 2020 Sonata. With the vehicle in hand, Mike was able to partner with the remote start Engineering Department at the manufacturer. Everyone was able to “talk” with the vehicle through data. Because of this, they wrote the proper firmware program. This firmware program will then be used on other 2020 Sonatas across the country! How cool is that? Lynn now has the first-of-its-kind remote start for a 2020 Sonata!
Heated Seats also get Installed on this 2020 Sonata
For the heated seat installation, Ken removed both front seats from the vehicle. With the seat cover fabric removed, the heated seat elements were fastened securely in position to the seat cushion and frame. The switches were then installed in the lower center cubby as discussed with Tony and approved by Lynn. The power harnesses were installed in conjunction with the remote start. This would allow Lynn to preheat her seats and the vehicle with remote start use. In fact, all she has to do is leave the six-position heated seat switch on the level she prefers!
Upon completion of the installation, Lynn picked the vehicle up and Tony went over the operation. Tony demonstrated its use and answered any questions she had. Of course, she can always call Tony in the future with any questions she may have. She was so excited to have her vehicle back, and happily surprised to know she was the first to have a remote start in a 2020 Sonata!
