Tom, a West Erie contractor, was looking to add power lock control and power windows to his company’s 2018 RAM 2500 pickup truck. Since the vehicle is used as a plow and site truck, it came with a very basic option package — manual crank windows and no power locks. He had to stick the key in the door to unlock it.
Tom missed the convenience of just pushing a button to lock or unlock the doors and to roll a window up or down. He called ENORMIS and asked to speak with Doug Reichert. Tom described what he was looking to do with the Ram 2500. Since the truck is used daily on the job, he wanted something reliable.
Doug researched the project and called Tom back the next day with an estimate to add the original factory MOPAR power window motors, regulators and power door lock actuators. Adding the original factory Ram equipment was the best choice for reliability and longevity.
Tom was onboard with Doug’s proposal and OK’d ordering parts. He the Ram 2500 at ENORMIS for the day. MECP-certified Ken Whiteman began the installation by installing custom wiring from the truck’s fuse box to the individual doors. Then Ken installed the factory door carrier plates with the power window regulators. Once he installed the carrier plates, the power window motors and the power door lock actuators could be installed. After that, Ken installed the switches on the door panels. Ken also added an 800-foot keyless entry system to control the power locks.
The project was completed in one day and we returned the truck to Tom so he could get back on the job the next day.
