One of the things we have noticed is that vehicle manufacturers are looking to capitalize on the remote starter category. The good news is that it brings more attention to the category, which is good for everyone involved – consumers and retailers alike. The bad news is that many consumers think that a factory-installed remote starter is better than an aftermarket remote starter system, and that is simply not true. Let’s explore the differences in these two types of systems.

1. Run Time

Right out of the gate, this is a major disadvantage of a factory-installed system. Most of their systems only run for 10 minutes, which is never enough time to de-ice the windows of your vehicle on a snowy day. When the temperature outside drops to under 20 degrees, 10 minutes will never be enough time for your vehicle to warm up.
