A local Buick/GMC new car dealership had a customer highly interested in a new 2019 Buick Encore SUV. The vehicle had all the features the customer desired except for heated seats.
Buick Encore Heated Seats Questions Answered
So, the dealership called the store and asked to speak with Doug Reichert, our OEM integration specialist. Also, the end customer came to the store and was wondering if heated seats could be added. He further asked, if the Buick Encore heated seats would come on with the existing factory remote start. Doug answered all the questions. Doug also answered the salesperson and referred the salesperson to our website. He did this in order to show the what the seat controls for the Buick Encore heated seats would actually look like. In fact, while Doug was on the phone the dealer’s salesperson showed the customer our website pictures. As luck would have it, we had a post with a previous Buick Encore with heated seats already on our website! That worked out perfect and the customer was sold right then and there.
Heated Seats installed by MECP Technician
Doug scheduled a day for the install before the customer was due to take delivery of the vehicle. Once we had the vehicle, MECP certified technician Art Dougan was tasked with this installation. Art began the installation by first removing both front seats. Art thoroughly inspected the passenger seat for any kind of passenger airbag presence system. He did that because, a passenger seat SRS airbag system may interfere with his installation. Art determined, that the heated seat install would not interfere with any passenger airbag systems.
So, Art installed the six position heated seat dials into the ENCORE’s dash next to the existing heater controls. After the switch dial installation, Art ran the wiring harnesses to the heated seat control modules. Those are located under the seat assemblies near the factory power seat components. Then, after the wiring and control module installation, Art removed the leather seat covers. He then, adhered the carbon fiber heating elements to the foam seat base and back. After re-installing the leather covers, came the seat re-installation and programming of the vehicle’s Airbag SRS system. The project took about a half day to complete. Because of that, the vehicle was returned to the dealership in plenty of time to deliver the vehicle to their customer.
