A Pittsburgh-based weigh station scale test company reached out to ENORMIS to install a heavy-duty backup camera system on their 1993 International S8100 heavy-duty box truck. This truck is large and a backup camera will help the driver tremendously.
Ted, the driver of the truck, stopped into the store and spoke with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist. Ted was going out of town for a couple days for company training and dropped the vehicle off with us to work on it while he was gone.
We installed a heavy-duty backup camera at the roof line of the truck’s rear box, just above the high mount stop light. The camera features a 130° ultra-wide viewing angle, 18 infrared lights for up to 50ft of night vision and a completely waterproof camera housing with a IP69 k rating.
After we chose placement of the camera, MECP-certified technician Ken Whiteman was able to run the wiring for the camera through a small hole for the high mount stop light wiring, into the box of the truck. Once inside the box of the truck, we ran the wiring down the side rails of the door opening and through the bottom of the truck, where Ken was able to wire into the reverse trigger of the existing reverse lights. From under the rear of the vehicle, Ken ran the camera wiring to the front of the vehicle and into the cab, following all the existing vehicle wiring harnesses.
This work truck is pretty basic. We chose a spot on the flat dash to mount the 7-inch LED digital color display monitor. We mounted it out of the way of the driver, but in a comfortable and easy viewing position.
Ken made sure to cover all the wiring with loom and adjust the camera angle for the best view with no obstructions for the driver.
ENORMIS installs a lot of rear backup cameras for many vehicles. We are conveniently located just a few miles north of I-90 in North Eastern, Erie County, PA. Be sure to contact us for your vehicle!
We are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
