A Corry, Pennsylvania-area business owner in the excavating business wanted to improve the safety of his business, employees and customers by installing a backup camera and a beacon light on his 2017 Ford F-550 dump truck.
We installed a heavy-duty night vision backup camera and programmed it to work with his existing factory 4.2 inch SYNC 3 radio screen. Anyone can install a camera, but we took a few extra steps. We secured the wiring with multiple mounting points and soldered any exterior connections. Since this truck already had a Ford 4.2″ screen, we got out our Ford computer and had it programmed to accept a rear camera input. No exterior screens needed and this kept the price down. The quality of this camera was also a consideration. This rear camera has night vision of up to 32 feet and features a Sharp 1/3″ CCD image sensor.
ENORMIS was also tasked with installing an amber flashing light on the top of the bed. But wait – this is a dump truck. This thing moves! We even custom-installed a metallic conduit and bent it to protect the light wiring. ENORMIS also made it possible to remove the flashing light with a quick disconnect that we installed. Once it’s removed, you can even plug in a “dummy” plug to protect the wiring.
