If you own a diesel-powered vehicle and want a diesel remote start , Enormis Mobile Specialties has good news for you: We have your solution. Many of our clients assume they can’t safely remote start their diesel engines, or that some “trickery” has to be involved to do it. That is not the case at Enormis. Our operations manager is an electrical engineer, so you could say he is overqualified for his job. We would say he is properly qualified. Either way, Mike has intimate knowledge of how the electronics work in a remote starter, and has helped major remote start manufacturers in the design phase of their products. He has personally overseen the products that we use in your diesel-powered vehicle, so you can rest assured that our products are designed to work properly for you.
Remote Start Systems Benefit Diesel Engines Even More Than Gas Engines
You already know that a remote starter is designed to warm up your vehicle for you, and to eliminate the need to scrape ice off windows. Both of these are great convenience features. You also know that your diesel takes longer to warm up than a gasoline model, so remote starting your diesel engine is a bigger benefit to you than to a person who owns a gas model. Our models allow for a longer run time so you can get some heat in the engine.
Diesel Remote Start Systems Can Improve Engine Efficiency
Speaking of heat in the engine, have you noticed that your diesel runs noticeably better once it warms up? Not only will it make more power, it will also use less fuel. You see, diesel engines rely on pressure built up inside the combustion chamber to create heat that ignites the fuel, so when the engine is warmed up, it becomes more efficient. We can’t tell you that using a remote starter on your diesel will save you fuel, but we can tell you that the efficiency difference means your fuel consumption increase will be far less than with a gas model. That sure is good news.
Warming up your diesel engine is good for it no matter the temperature outside, so remote starting your diesel is a great idea every day of the year.
Turbo Timer Add-On Can Extend Turbo Lifespan
Modern diesels use turbochargers to create even more pressure in the combustion chamber to increase power and efficiency. They can spin as fast as 100,000 revolutions per minute when you are working the engine hard, so you can imagine the bearings on the turbo can get hot.
Imagine what happens to the bearings in the turbo if you pull into a parking spot after running it hard, and instantly shut it off. The oil and coolant stop flowing to the bearings, so they aren’t allowed to properly cool down, and the life expectancy of the system can drop. Enormis Mobile Specialties can install a turbo timer function for your remote starter. Then, when you pull into a parking spot, you simply set the emergency brake and wait 3 to 5 seconds before turning off the ignition. When you turn off the ignition, the remote starter will keep the engine running. When you close the last door and lock it, a timer starts on the remote start, keeping the engine running for, say, 2 minutes, and then shuts it off. Your turbo now has adequate time to cool down properly. Any of our team members would be glad to go into more detail with you about the turbo timer function.
Enormis Offers Many Diesel Remote Start Systems
Enormis also has several models that will work with your vehicle, not just a single piece. We suggest a system with a longer range so you can receive the benefits of starting your diesel in more places. Think about all the places your vehicle will sit over the course of an average week: not just your garage or driveway, but work, church, mall, out to dinner, etc. Then buy enough range to start it from all of those places.
Two-Way Diesel Remote Start Systems
For more peace of mind, we suggest a two-way system. That sends confirmation back to the remote control once the engine is running. Now you know for sure that your diesel is warming up.
Smartphone Based Diesel Remote Start Systems
For the ultimate in convenience, consider our smartphone systems. They allow you to harness to power of the Internet to control your remote starter. As long as your phone can access the Internet and our module we install in your vehicle can access the Internet, you can start your vehicle all over the place, literally anywhere in the world. You can be on your way back to your vehicle with someone and start it from miles away, allowing it to warm up and defrost those windows before you get to it.
