The customer loved the Expedition and was interested in purchasing one, but he has two little children that he needed to keep occupied while driving. Ford did not offer a rear passenger entertainment system as an accessory or factory-installed. A Mercer, PA, Ford dealership needed help with this deal on a 2019 Ford Expedition Platinum Edition.
The dealership called Doug at ENORMIS Mobile Specialties. Doug was familiar with the Expedition since we had just installed a rear seat entertainment system for someone else. This customer wanted a rear seat DVD system that was capable of streaming content from his phone or tablet as well as Wi-Fi. Doug sent the Ford dealership an e-mail with all the information about the custom headrests that we offered. The customer reviewed the options and chose the dual 8-inch headrest touchscreen monitors with individual DVD, built in Wi-Fi, HDMI and USB inputs.
These custom-made video headrests even came with the Ford factory Medium Soft Ceramic Leather to match the interior exactly. Yes, these headrests are not universal. From the leather to adjustable angles to duplicating the Ford headrest posts, every detail is noted.
The Expedition was also equipped with a Wi-Fi hot spot that would allow the customer to stream Netflix, Amazon Video, or Hulu, etc., directly to the headrests.
MECP-certified technician Art Dougan was tasked with the installation. While installing the DVD headrests wiring, Art was sure to take into account the vehicle’s Auto Start/Stop technology. After installation, Doug did a thorough runthrough of all the features of the DVD system before returning the vehicle to the customer.
