A Buick dealership needed a DVD mobile video system installed in a brand-new 2019 Buick Enclave. Buick no longer offers any overhead video solutions, and only offers DVD headrest and tablet solutions at a cost of nearly $1,900 excluding installation. This was out of the customer’s price range and not practical, since the headrests only come with a maximum of two screens and the customer has three children.
The Buick dealer contacted ENORMIS Integration Specialist Doug Reichert about the details. Doug had a solution for the Buick dealer: He suggested a 10.1-inch overhead DVD with three sets of wireless headphones, one for each of the children. The 10.1-inch overhead DVD features hi-res digital LED back-lit panel (1024 x 600 Res), DVD player, user-accessible USB Reader with 2.1 amp charging support, A/V inputs and output, IR remote control, and user-accessible HDMI/MHL input. When not in use, the overhead folds neatly into the roof of the vehicle so it doesn’t obscure the driver’s view.
MECP-certified technician Art Dougan handled the installation. Art first measured and chose a location for the overhead DVD player, then checked for proper bracing of the overhead DVD player. The overhead must be installed where proper roof cross-members are located to secure the overhead to the roof safely. Once the location was determined, Art removed part of the headliner to mount the overhead to the roof and provide a nicely finished installation around the video system. Art also completely hid all associated wiring. The Buick dealer was very happy with the detailed install and returned the Enclave to their customer.
