John, a Kearsarge, PA, resident, stopped by ENORMIS with a remote start issue. He had purchased a used 2015 Honda CRV EX and the vehicle had a remote start already installed, bu the remote start was inoperable, so he went back to the dealership looking for help. The dealer said, “Sorry, the place that installed that remote start went out of business. Take it to ENORMIS in Harborcreek.”
John spoke with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, who spent a few minutes trying to get John’s non-ENORMIS remote start to work. Doug could not get it to work, and was concerned about what appeared to be a shoddy installation of a low-quality, cheap remote start.
Doug had MECP-certified technician Art Dougan investigate the existing remote start, and Doug was correct. That cheap, poorly installed, low-quality, deal-of-the-day remote start could actually prevent John from starting his Honda CRV altogether.
This 2015 Honda CRV EX is a “push-to-start” vehicle — no key required. It is the opinion of ENORMIS that this Honda should only get a remote start that uses Honda-specific software and Honda-specific wire harnessing. This will allow a remote start to perform properly and reliably. The remote start that was installed by another shop was not vehicle-specific. You could call it a “universal remote start.” On top of that, it was not installed properly.
Doug explained the situation to John and showed him the shoddy installation. Doug offered to remove the problematic remote start and install a vehicle-specific remote start. John said, absolutely! He stayed in our comfortable waiting room while Art removed the low-quality universal remote start and put all the wiring back to original Honda standards. Then Art installed the ENORMIS vehicle-specific remote start.
A few hours later, John’s problematic remote start was gone and a brand-new, high-quality remote start had been installed.
