Do you live in your vehicle? Tired of all the wires and extra devices everywhere? Fix that clutter! An Erie-based home inspection contractor and first-time ENORMIS customer stopped by the store to inquire about upgrading the radio in his 2011 Toyota 4Runner. He had a small, 2″ by 7″ radio installed in the dash, but it only played radio stations and CDs. Tom needed more.
The 4Runner is his work vehicle, and he wanted to consolidate the clutter. Tom has a dash-mounted Garmin GPS and a cellphone charging cord coming from the glove box, and needs to plug his laptop into the dash.
Operations manager Mike Macaluso showed Tom all his options. They decided on the Kenwood DDX6704S, a double DIN AM/FM, CD player with Sirius satellite radio. What makes this unit special is its advanced Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This allows Tom to access his text messages, contacts, and Google or Apple maps directly on his radio’s touchscreen.
Tom can now get rid of the dash-mounted Garmin navigation and the cellphone charging cord from the glove box.
Our MECP-certified technician Chris Brown did an excellent job of installing the Kenwood unit and USB cable. Chris nicely tucked the USB cable mount above the vehicle’s existing AUX input on the dash in a storage pocket. Now Tom can charge his phone directly from the radio’s USB input while using the advanced Bluetooth and Navigation at the same time.
