Pat, a Millcreek resident and repeat ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer, was having a heated seat issue with a 2015 Ford F-150 Platinum edition. The Platinum edition truck is loaded and came with both heated and cooled front seats — but when Pat would turn on the heated seats, the lights would come on signifying the heated seats were on, but the seats never got warm. Pat arranged to drop the truck off at ENORMIS for a couple of days when he was heading out of town and would not need the truck.
We assigned our MECP-certified technician Art Dougan to do an electrical diagnosis on this Ford. Art scanned the vehicle for trouble codes, using our Ford factory-level computer, but could not communicate with the Front Seat Temperature Control Module (another case of the scan tool not telling you what is wrong). He did a visual inspection of wire harnesses, connectors and modules, and found signs of heat damage: the problem that caused the Ford module to go offline. Instead of replacing expensive parts, Art and our Operation Manager Mike Macaluso were able to make repairs to the control module.
After making the repairs, Art got the module to go back “online” and reprogrammed the module to the vehicle. Now the heated and cooled seats operate as designed.
