Rear Camera Needed
Victor, a repeat ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer and East Erie contractor, wanted to add a reverse camera to his 2015 Chevy Silverado work truck. He stopped by the store with the truck and spoke with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, about the backup camera.
Victor’s 2015 Silverado came with the factory 4.2″ IO4 radio with a color display. Doug remembered performing a reverse camera upgrade in another Chevy truck and suggested that ENORMIS add the factory backup camera. This camera integrates with the tailgate handle and will display an image to the existing 4.2″ Chevy screen. This sounded great to Victor, so they scheduled a date for installation. ENORMIS ordered all the necessary parts for the vehicle and arranged for Victor to drop the vehicle off for a whole day.
Factory Chevy Parts Used
MECP-certified technician Art Dougan performed the installation using only factory GM tailgate handle and camera. Art then programmed the factory 4.2″ radio screen to display the camera image. Since Art programmed the factory screen to accept the image, it has reverse camera guidelines that move according to the steering wheel input. This will allow Victor to back up to his trailers with precise accuracy, which will definitely save time when hooking up trailers and add safety by letting Victor see what is behind him.
