A local business owner from Erie recently contacted ENORMIS Mobile Specialties about adding some OEM-style 2016 Ford F-350 accessories. This work truck is a base model and didn’t come with power windows, power locks or power mirrors. Because there are multiple staff members who drive the truck and they each need to lock it securely at job sites and their office, adding power accessories would save them a lot of time. They also asked us if we could add warning beacons to make the truck more visible when parked. This is ENORMIS — of course we can!
Power Window Upgrades
While several good-quality aftermarket power window kits are available, they simply don’t work as well as the Ford window regulators. We ordered power window regulators for the front and back doors and installed them for the client. Each window has a dedicated regulator part number, so we checked and double-checked everything before we started the work. We ran new wiring into each door and mounted switches on the doors. It took some time, but the results were just as we planned — perfect!
Power Lock Upgrade
Without power locks, one of the staff members would have to walk around the truck and lock each door manually. This isn’t a good use of time. We installed power lock solenoids in each door and, of course, ran new wiring to power the locks. We added control switches to each door that allow anyone in the vehicle to lock and unlock the truck quickly and easily.
Heated Power Tow Mirrors
Since we already had the doors apart to install the power windows, the client asked if we could add heated power tow mirrors. The truck already had tow mirrors, but they had to be adjusted manually. We ordered new mirror assemblies with integrated marker lights and an OEM mirror control switch. To give the heating system an OEM feel, we created a timer circuit that would allow the heaters to clear the mirrors, then shut off automatically. We mounted the mirror adjustment and heater control switch on the dash to the left of the steering column. The marker lights in the mirror are wired into the factory signal circuit, so they operate just as they would if the mirrors had been installed on the vehicle assembly line.
Ford F-350 Safety Lighting
The last part of the project was to install a pair of amber warning beacon lights on top of the headboard. The client chose a pair of compact strobe-style lights. As with all of our accessory upgrades, the wiring for the lights is custom-designed for this application. We solder all of the electrical connections and protect each one to prevent corrosion. Finally, all wiring is harnessed and secured to ensure everything operates reliably for the life of the vehicle.
Ford F-350 Truck Accessories Project
With all the systems installed, our team thoroughly tested every switch and function to verify that they operated flawlessly. After the owner returned to ENORMIS Mobile Specialties in Erie, we demonstrated how everything worked. He was very impressed with the fit, finish and function of all of the upgrades.
