A logistics contractor and first-time ENORMIS client wanted to add a backup camera to his 2015 Freightliner delivery truck. The truck is used to deliver packages to the Millcreek Mall and surrounding areas. This can be a tight squeeze for a 35-foot-long truck!
The client, Dave, sent ENORMIS an e-mail request from our website for information regarding backup cameras for the truck. Our advisor Doug responded quickly and set up a time for Dave to bring the box truck to the store. Once it was at ENORMIS, one of our MECP-certified technicians could look the truck over for mounting and wiring options.
Dave was thinking about a backup camera that would display to a monitor mounted on the dash. Our ENORMIS advisor Doug said, “Why add a monitor? Let’s just replace the whole radio!” This killed two birds with one stone. Doug recommended the JVC KWV-240BT, since it has a 6.2″ display screen for the camera and an advanced Bluetooth with multi-phone pairing. This will allow up to four drivers to all pair their cellphones to the vehicle. When it is a driver’s day to drive, their phone will automatically pair to the JVC unit in the truck. Hands-free calling is safer – and it’s the law.
ENORMIS installed a heavy-duty HD night vision camera on the rear roof of the truck. Ken Whiteman ran all wiring from the rear of the vehicle to the front. He followed all the existing wiring harnesses for the best weatherproofing. Ken did an expert job of installing the camera, so the rear liftgate platform can be seen in the JVC head unit.
Now Dave’s drivers can make their deliveries with the added safety of hands-free calling and rear vision.
