A client from Girard recently contacted ENORMIS Mobile Specialties by e-mail to inquire about adding power windows and power locks to a Toyota Tundra. The client got a great deal on a base-model 2014 Tundra SR5, but it lacked the convenience features he wanted. The truck didn’t have power locks or power windows, and the windshield wipers only had low and high speed settings.
OEM Convenience Features
Doug Reichert, our lead Integration specialist, worked with the client by e-mail to determine exactly what upgrades he wanted for the work truck. What makes the solutions we provide different from those of our competitors in that we typically use factory components for upgrades like these. While we can source aftermarket parts, they simply aren’t as reliable as the parts made by Toyota and their Tier 1 suppliers.
Doug provided the client with an exact quote based on his options and the Toyota parts we’d use for the vehicle.
Toyota Tundra Power Windows
When the client dropped off his vehicle, we assigned MECP-Certified technician Ken Whiteman to the project. Ken started by taking the door trim panels off and removing the manual window regulator system. He installed the Toyota power window lift mechanism and motor, then completed the wiring integration. Next, he installed the power door lock motors in the truck and wired them up. He finished the work in the doors by mounting the window control switches over the hole left from the manual window crank for a neat and tidy look.
Keyless Entry System Installation
As part of the project plan, Doug suggested that we add a keyless entry system to the truck to make locking and unlocking more convenient. Ken integrated the control module for the remote control system with the vehicle wiring and mounted the antenna at the top of the windshield. The remotes provide up to 800 feet of range.
Intermittent Windshield Wipers
The last part of the project was to install a new wiper control switch in the steering column. We used our OEM-grade computer to program the body control module in the truck so the vehicle’s systems would understand that we added intermittent wiper control.
Pennsylvania’s Vehicle Electronics Experts
Ken had the Toyota Tundra power windows, locks and wiper control upgrade completed right at the end of the day. The vehicle owner returned to ENORMIS Mobile Specialties the following morning. Doug walked the client through the upgrades we performed and let him know that we were available any time to answer any questions he had.
