The owner of this 2015 Honda Accord hybrid — a longtime ENORMIS client and Corry, PA, resident — wanted to add a blind spot system to alert his daughter of drivers close to her Accord so she would be safe while she travels.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, roughly 840,000 blind spot-related accidents happen annually. Every driver is at risk of this kind of accident simply because all vehicles have blind spots. In most cases, blind spot-related accidents occur when a driver is changing lanes.
The addition of this blind spot system was not an option from Honda, so whom did he call? You guessed it: ENORMIS Mobile Specialties. He wanted a system that was reliable and would alert his daughter if there was a car in the other lane when she was about to change lanes, when merging, etc.
Don’t be fooled: There are many of these types of systems out there. In fact, ENORMIS stopped selling them for a while, because we were not satisfied with the performance of many of these systems. Do you want an alert every time you pass a mailbox or as you drive through a parking lot?
For this client, we installed a state-of-the-art radar-based system that provides visual and audible warnings if there is a vehicle next to her car. When the vehicle reaches 15 mph, the indicators will illuminate if a vehicle is in the left- or right-lane blind spot. When a turn signal is engaged, she will not only see the warning indicator, but the system will produce an audible beep to let her know there is a vehicle in her blind spot.
