Paul recently had a new bumper and winch installed, but hated the look of the control box on top of the winch. He also did not like the fact that if he wanted to use the winch, he would have to be standing outside the vehicle to pull a car out of a ditch – fun in our cold winters. Paul is an East Erie resident and repeat ENORMIS client, and came by with his 2012 Jeep Wrangler to see if we could help.
Paul spoke with Doug and Mike, and they all came up with a game plan: Move the control box under the hood, lengthen the heavy power cable from the control box to the winch and relocate the winch control plug from the side of the control box to the interior of the vehicle.
Paul dropped the vehicle off while he was going to be out of town. Technician Ken Whiteman was exacting in his work. He was able to solder and crimp the cable ends for a sure connection, removed the hand-held controller socket from the control box and ran the extended wiring to the interior of the vehicle. He was then able to mount the controller socket to the lower driver footwell, where Paul can now connect his controller and use the winch from inside the vehicle. Doug texted Paul pictures of his Jeep winch while he was out of town, and Paul thinks it looks great!
