Rhonda from North East, PA, recently purchased a 2019 Lund Adventure Fishing boat with her husband. The boat is going to be a weekend pleasure craft for Rhonda and a fishing boat for her husband. Rhonda wanted to have some entertainment on the boat for the weekends. She called and spoke with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist about adding music to the boat.
Rhonda wanted AM/FM, Weatherband, Bluetooth and Sirius satellite radio. Since satellite radio was a must, our marine specialist and MECP-certified technician Ken Whiteman recommended the Rockford Fosgate PMX-3 source unit, which features a 2.7″ full-color thin film display, Sirius color channel logos (18 channel presets), IPX6 Water Intrusion Rating, Bluetooth streaming and a 1 amp USB.
Once we had an idea of where the radio would go, we brought it out of the showroom and showed to Rhonda where on the boat it and the USB port would go. Rhonda liked the idea of the factory radio placement and loved that the USB port would be right next to the cellphone holder pocket on the boat.
Technician Ken recommended that the factory speaker locations be used under the steering wheel, but also recommended installing two additional speakers to complete a surround-sound effect. Rhonda was all in for the stereo and arranged to drop off the boat.
We were able to pull the boat into on of our work bays and Ken was able to complete the installation in good time. We returned the boat back to Rhonda and her husband the next day, and Doug went over full operation of the system with them. Don’t be surprised if you see the “GONE FISHING” sign hanging from Rhonda’s door often this summer!
