Andrew, a Randolph NY resident and first time ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer, recently purchased a new RAM 2500 work truck. He uses the truck to haul trailers to and from work sites. So, he picked the truck up from the dealer and took it home. But, he soon realized that Ram 2500 tow mirrors were missing. Since the truck had the factory heavy duty tow package, Andrew expected the truck to come with extended tow mirrors!
So, Andrew purchased the tow mirrors from the dealer, took them home and put them on. However he soon realized that the wiring connectors were different. Not only that, but he could not get the mirrors to function properly. He stopped into ENORMIS and was seeking assistance with his upgrade. Andrew spoke with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, about the issue. Luckily, Doug was familiar with Ram project and noted a few things. Not only was there wiring changes, but the vehicle modules need to be re-programmed. That way the tow mirrors can work correctly on the truck. So, Doug scheduled Andrew’s truck for a morning when Andrew had the day off.
Ram 2500 Tow Mirrors get Programmed by MECP Technician
The wiring installation and programming was tasked to MECP Certified Technician Ken Whiteman. Ken, corrected the “non tow mirror” wiring harness and converted the new Ram 2500 tow mirrors to operate using the existing factory mirror and defroster switch. Ken also wired added functions such as, heated glass, puddle lights, and turn signals. The wiring was completed but more work still needed done. Ken programmed the truck for the tow mirrors using our Factory RAM Wi=Tech computer. After the programming and options were added to the vehicle, Ken tested each function for proper operation. Once the testing was complete, we returned the truck to Andrew later that afternoon.
