A client from Erie recently returned to ENORMIS Mobile Specialties to upgrade her Jeep Wrangler audio system. We had added power windows, power locks and a remote car starter to the Jeep recently and being a music lover, the owner wanted to improve the performance of the sound system. We had a look at the vehicle and demonstrated several speaker, source unit and subwoofer options that would add dynamics, realism and detail to her music.
JVC Radio Upgrade and Backup Camera System
The first step was to replace the factory radio with a JVC KW-V340BT multimedia receiver. The new radio provides advanced Bluetooth features, including audio streaming and voice recognition that work with the client’s Android-based Samsung phone. The 13-band EQ and signal processing features in the deck will allow the client to fine-tune the system.
We used a Metra adapter kit to fill in the gaps on either side of the radio and a Maestro RR integration module to allow the radio to communicate with the Jeep’s CAN Bus data network. With this data integration module installed, the client can see information like tire pressures, a secondary gauge display, battery voltage and even diagnostic codes. We also added an SXV300 so she could listen to SiriusXM satellite radio. To make parking and maneuvering the vehicle safer, we installed a special backup camera kit that is designed specifically for 2007 through 2017 Jeep Wrangler models. The mounting bracket attaches to the spare tire carrier and locates the camera between the spokes of the wheel.
Phoenix Gold Jeep Wrangler Speaker Upgrades
The next step in improving the performance of the audio system was to replace the front speakers with a set of Phoenix Gold Ti265CS components. This 6.5-inch component set mounts into the factory speaker locations in the dash of the Wrangler. We added a set of Phoenix Gold SX65CS components to the overhead sound bar.
Jeep Subwoofer System
To give the system the clarity and detail the client wanted, we installed a Rockford Fosgate P300-10 amplified subwoofer enclosure in the cargo area. This enclosure features a 10-inch Punch subwoofer and includes a built-in amplifier. If the client needs the storage space, there are three quick-disconnects to remove and the sub can come out.
Wrangler Audio System Upgrade Project
With all the equipment installed and tested, it was time to return the Jeep to the client. We showed her how to pair her phone and use the sound adjustment features in the radio. She loved the way the new speakers and subwoofers sound and was anxious to show off her Wrangler audio system at some of the local Jeep events and Jamborees. If you are in the Erie area and want to upgrade your sound system, drop by our store or send us an e-mail using our contact page.
We are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
