Steps To Finding A Reliable Remote Car Starter
STEP #1: Once you’ve decided to have a remote starter added to your vehicle, list your objectives. Do you want a cheap remote start? Or… is finding a reliable, trustworthy shop at a fair price more important? Do you want to work with an honest, reputable company? (ENORMIS is a BBB A+ Rated Company)
STEP #2: Ask questions. The way to learn about a company is to ask questions and listen carefully to the answers. Here are some things to be aware of while shopping for a remote start:
Here is the game some shops play. They try to impress you with a large amount of brands and models. You are impressed but confused. They only have the intention of selling a few models. Most Specialty Shops Carry 1 or maybe 2 Brands They Believe in. Having 1 or 2 brands allows the techs to become intimately familiar with that particular brand. That means a consistent product outcome.
Some shops will actually carry some brands that they don’t recommend! Why do they carry them?
Here is the sign of a disingenuous shop. Some shops will display what their competition sells and “bad mouth” those brands. So when you “shop around” and you hear that certain “brand” they want you running back to their disingenuous shop!
How long a shop has been carrying a brand can be an indication of faith with that brand. Some shops are constantly shopping for the “deal”. Simply looking for a “cheap” remote start. These cheap remote starts don’t perform as well and Techs have a hard time learning the “ins and outs” of this constant brand switching.
What do they recommend for your vehicle and your needs and why?
(The shop should be listening to your needs. Each person and vehicle is different. If it’s a gift for your aged mother; A new remote control with 4 buttons on it may not be the best fit.)
How long is this remote starter guaranteed and is its installation warranted as well?
Almost EVERYONE will say lifetime warranty! What exactly does that mean? Be aware of exaggerated claims and ask to see a copy of a written warranty.
Is that a written warranty and what exactly does the warranty cover? May I see a copy of it? (Listen to the answer) ENORMIS shows you the warranty on this website
Do you hire part time “seasonal” help to install remote starts during your busy season?
(Here today Gone Tomorrow help is not good with your vehicle that you rely on everyday)
May I see a list of references or comments from your past clients?
(You can also type a business name on google followed with review)
Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau, and what will the BBB tell me about your company?
(Always good to check and make sure)
STEP #3: Visit the shop! Yes, we know, what a pain! But, if you have the time, pay a visit to the place of business and Look around. The vehicle you rely on everyday will be having surgery done to it. Do you feel comfortable leaving your car there? Go meet the Doctor! Some shops look great on the outside but the garages have wet floors, questionable techs, and are very unorganized! Are customers “hanging out” while your car gets worked on? Are they cutting wood or painting cars while “things” seem to be settling on and inside vehicles? Does the shop refuse to let you see the “wizards” at work. (Insurance policies will cover a brief customer tour.)
STEP #4: Once you’re satisfied that you’re working with an honest and reputable company, ask for a specific quotation. A written quotation gives you the assurance that you’ll know exactly what you’re getting and what the cost will be — with no surprises. (Also, don’t be afraid to give them your name and ask the shop to save the quotation in their computer. Shops get extremely busy during the remote start season and that will save lots of time!)
By following these steps, you’ll gain the information you need to make an informed decision.
The owner of ENORMIS made the decision over 13 years ago to focus on offering customers the best for their money at a fair price; instead of “baiting” them with a cheap price; hoping to “switch” them into something more expensive when they come in or worse yet, when their car is apart in the garage!
