It had all the options they desired — remote start, heated seats, third-row seating, etc. — and they loved the vehicle, but it lacked one thing. A new car dealer called ENORMIS looking for options to add a DVD player to this 2019 GMC Acadia. The dealer said their customer needed to keep kids occupied while on long road trips.
The dealer spoke with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist. GMC no longer offers overhead DVDs as an accessory on some of their vehicles, but has instead opted for replacement headrests with infotainment tablets. Doug explained that an overhead DVD is still possible and would even play the DVD audio through the existing Bose sound system in the vehicle. The overhead DVD also includes a pair of wireless headphones, in case the parents or others want to listen to something else over the Acadia stereo. As an added bonus, the DVD player has a pair of built-in LED lights that will help illuminate the rear cabin.
The dealership dropped the vehicle off the next morning for ENORMIS to complete the installation. MECP-certified technician Art Dougan was assigned to the installation, which involved locating the correct cross-bracing in the roof to support the DVD player. After finding a location for the DVD player, Art carefully cut the headliner to access the bracing and hid all the wiring to interface with the existing Acadia sound system. We returned the vehicle to the dealership later the same day, in time for the dealership to get the 2019 GMC Acadia cleaned and ready for delivery that night.
