A client from Wattsburg, Pennsylvania, contacted ENORMIS Mobile Specialties about upgrading the lighting on his 2014 Ford F-150. The client had some very specific requirements for the upgrade. He wanted to be sure that the new lights would not have an adverse effect to oncoming drivers. Moreover, he wanted to know that the new lights would be 100% legal. We take lighting very seriously, so we were excited to work with a client that understands how important a proper beam pattern is to his safety and to the safety of the people that share the road!
SAE Compliant Fog Lights
When a client demands the highest quality and performance from a lighting upgrade, we usually use products from Rigid Industries. For this F-150, we installed a set of their SAE Compliant LED fog lights in the factory bumper.
This Rigid D-Series fog light kit includes a pair 33 watt, quad LED lights. The beam pattern is a narrow horizontal line that is compliant with the SAE J583 standard for fog light beam pattern and construction. These lights include a physical cut-off that prevents light from shining at an upward angle from the vehicle. It directs the light output toward the low horizon, and maintains road illumination without blinding oncoming drivers.
Installation and Adjustment
We mounted the lights in the front bumper. We secure and protect all the wiring to provide years of reliable operation. Once the lights were mounted, we aimed the lights perfectly. If the lights are too high, they will blind oncoming drivers. If the beam is too low, it will light up the area in front of the truck and reduce long distance visibility. This client drives on roads with no streetlights, so accurate light aiming was paramount.
This lighting kit will fit many different vehicles. Rigid Industries makes vehicle-specific mounting kits for Chevy, GMC, Ram, Dodge, Jeep, Toyota and of course, Ford vehicles. The mounting brackets we used are compatible with 2006 to 2017 Ford F-150 vehicles.
Client Excited To Try His New F-150 Lighting
The client returned to ENORMIS Mobile Solutions in Harborcreek, Pennsylvania, to pick up his truck. He was excited to drive it on some of the dark country roads he frequents. We reviewed the installation with him and showed him the beam pattern on the wall of our shop. A few days after leaving, he explained how much better he could see and how much safer he felt.
